Consulent De Prelet Z wins the CSI3* of Oliva
MEDITERRANEAN EQUESTRIAN TOUR - HERVÉ BONNAUD
The third and last week of Oliva's Mediterranean Equestrian Tour brought again a lot of successes for the blue/yellow colors of Zangersheide last week! The highlight of the weekend was of course the GP victory of the Irish rider Richard Howley and the 12-year-old gelding Consulent de Prelet Z, a son of Consulent Z and Fuego du Prelet who was bred in Slovakia by Svo Trans Feka. Howley and Consulent du Prelet Z were one of the 14 combinations that remained clear in the basic round and so qualified for the jump-off. They were the first to start in that jump-off and with a clear round in 37.33 seconds they immediately achieved a performance that would not be improved!
Richard Howley: “Consulent is a naturally quick horse, he is very careful so you can really trust him at the jumps. He jumped fantastic in the first round. He was in super shape, and it felt like today was the day he could give a good result – so we had a go and the jump-off went our way. Consulent is a very good horse and I plan to do some big things with him this year. He already has had some great results last year, and I would like to aim for a few good five-star shows with him this year.”
But Consulent de Prelet Z was not the only Zangersheide horse that we saw in the top 10 of the rankings during this CSI3* GP. There was also a 4th place for the Dutch rider Remco Been with his 11-year-old gelding Bridgetown Z (Big Star Jr K Z x Carolus H – B: M.J. Greeve), a 7th place for the Spanish rider Mariano Martinez Bastida with the 14 -year-old gelding Belano Vd Wijnhoeve Z (Berlin x Darco – B: D. De Cuyper) and a 9th place for the Belgian rider Cyril Cools with the 13-year-old grey mare Cloe GP Z (Corrdino x Takashi Van Berkenbroek – B: Juan Carlos Hernandez ).
Also on Sunday, Cyril Cools jumped to a 2nd place with the 14-year-old grey mare Seahorse Z, a daughter of Hunter's Scendix and Chellano Z who was bred by NV Chatho. During the 1.45m class, Cools and Seahorse Z managed to keep it clear in both the 1st and the 2nd phase, but in the end they had to put up with the Brazilian rider Pedro Veniss (Nice Van Baublo). For the Argentinian rider Martin Dopazo there was a 4th place in this class with the 11-year-old grey mare Carlina Z (Caristo Z x Berlin – B: Haras Rinconada).
On Friday we got 2 Zangersheide victories, and 1 of these was during the 1.45m high Longines Ranking class. Here it was Mariano Martinez Bastida who became the winner with the 10-year-old stallion Qark de Preuilly Z, a son of Quaprice du Bois Margot and Cento who was bred in France by Soc. Fermiere de Preuilly. In a class against the clock, they rushed to the finishline in 62.68 seconds and wist this performance they were almost 2 full seconds ahead of the competition. His compatriot Ismael Garcia Roque finished 3rd with the 15-year-old gelding Balthazar D Z (Balougran x Quidam de Rêvel – B: Evzen Duda), the Brazilian rider Pedro Veniss 4th with the 12-year-old gelding Nimrod de Muze Z (Nabab de Rêve x Tinka's Boy – F: Eric Polfliet), the Belgian rider Jérôme Guery 5th with the 9-year-old mare Come Away Flamingo Z (Cardento VDL x Dollar du Murier – B: S.A.R.L. Cavalex) and the British rider Max Routlay 7th with the 11- year-old mare Vanda McLaren (ex Tootsie Brimbelles Z - Tiny Boy x Diamant de Semilly – B: Haras Des Brimbelles).
That same day, the Gold 1.40m class was won by the German rider Cédric Wolf and the 12-year-old gelding Capitano Z (Cornado NRW x Lordanos – B: Charlotte Peeters), with whom he already won 2 classes in the previous weeks . This time he finished in 57.59 seconds and with that he added another victory to his list of honors.
Finally, on Saturday, the young Belgian rider Mathieu Guery managed to achieve a good result with the 10-year-old mare Tender Dream Hero Z (Thunder van de Zuuthoeve x Carthago Z – B: Luc Henry). During the Gold 1.40m class they remained clear and this performance was good for a 5th place in the ranking.
