Next to the many international shows, last weekend was also an important weekend at national level. The first edition of the Cup of Belgium for young horses took place at the house of JV Horses in Wuustwezel. It became once again a top weekend for our blue/yellow colours, because we got a Zangersheide horse on top of the podium in both the 5-year-olds and the 6-year-olds.
During the final for the 5-year-old horses, the best 40 combinations from the 2 qualifiers on Thursday and Friday reappeared in the ring. 12 combinations managed to complete the basic round flawlessly and so qualified for the jump-off. The victory went to lady rider Britt Martens with the chestnut mare Andrea Van Het Langwater, a daughter of our chestnut stallion Aganix du Seigneur Z and Beaujolais who was bred by Patrick Jonkmans. Martens rushed to the finish line in 36.98 seconds, giving her a lead of more than one and a half seconds on the competition.
But also the 3rd place during this final for 5-year-old horses colored blue and yellow thanks to lady rider Merel Vandebroek and the gelding Condor van 't Laekhof Z, a son of Chamani de la Pomme and Gismo Z who was bred by Tom Nuyts. They also managed to ensure a clear round in the jump-off.
Neal Vanderwegen with Jivaro NC Z (Jenson van 't Meulenhof x Bamako de Muze – B: Charlotte Neuts) secured the 4th place and Marjan Poukens with Enjoy Z (Emerald van 't Ruytershof x Caretano Z – B: Marjan Poukens) were good for the 5th place in the ranking.
6 year old horses
Among the 6-year-old horses, 41 combinations had managed to qualify for the final and of these 41, also 12 managed to successfully complete the basic round and thus ensure a place in the jump-off. The victory went to the American rider Evan Coluccio with the grey gelding Cigaristo JVH Z, a son of Cigaret JVH Z and Levisto Z who, as his name suggests, was bred by Jan Vermeiren. Coluccio and Cigaristo JVH Z crossed the finish line in 45.08 seconds and thus secured a home victory!
The Irish rider Ivan Dalton managed to jump to silver with the mare Carte d'Or SDW Z, a daughter of Comme Il Faut and Cornet Obolensky who was bred by Bomo NV. They also managed to deliver a flawless performance in the jump-off, but needed 45.28 seconds to reach the finish line.
For Annelore Roegiers there was still a 4th place here with Envie van de Kasteeldreef Z (Elvis Ter Putte x Stew Boy – B: Frans Boterdaele).
