Earlier this week, the FEI announced her new world ranking, which ranks the showjumping horses based on their sports results from January 1, 2023 to October 31, 2023. The Zangersheide horses clearly leave their mark, because both number 1 and number 2 of this ranking has the letter Z after their name!
The new leader in the ranking of the best show jumping horses in the world is, as expected, the 10-year-old black gelding Dexter Fontenis Z, a son of Diarado and Voltaire who was bred by S.C.R.I S.Ky Horses and who has formed a strong duo for more than 2 years now with the French rider Simon Delestre. Simon Delestre and Dexter Fontenis Z have been performing at a particularly high level all year long and have already managed to amass an impressive list of honers. The first highlights of the year came at the end of February and at the beginning of March when they jumped to a podium place two weeks in a row during the CSI5* GPs of Doha. But in the months that followed, Delestre and Dexter Fontenis Z could hardly be left out of the spotlights. For example, they won a 1.50m class during the LGCT of St. Tropez and became 3rd during the Grand Prix, followed by a 7th place during the CSIO5* GP of Aachen, they won the second and decisive round of the Global Champions League during the LGCT of Valkenswaard, they became 2nd during a 1.50m class in Barcelona and shone during the Oslo International Horse Show with a victory during the CSI5* GP and a 2nd place during the FEI Jumping Word Cup. During the Longines Global Champions Tour of Riyadh, another 3rd place followed during the LGCT Grand Prix.
Simon Delestre: “It's official, our crack Dexter Fontenis Z is the number 1 of the world. Dexter takes the lead in the list of the best show jumping horses in the world. What an honor to work with such a champion every day! Thank you to the Hochstadter family for their trust and congratulations to them for giving birth to this superstar.”
Landon
But the 2nd place in this world ranking for show jumping horses is also occupied by a Zangersheide horse and that honor goes to the 10-year-old chestnut gelding Landon, who made the news last week with his 2 medals during the Pan American Games 2023. Landon is a son of our chestnut stallion Comilfo Plus Z and Quadrillo who was born at the home of breeder Danny Nijs as Crack de Nyze Z and under the saddle of the American rider Kent Farington he made his breakthrough this at the highest level this year. After winning the CSI3* GP in Wellington in February, they also ensured victories during the CSIO5* GP of San Miguel de Allende and during the CSI5* GP of Spruce Meadows in Calgary. But the absolute highlight of the year came last weekend during the Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile. Farrington and Landon won gold with the American team and jumped to a silver medal individually.
