Christian Ahlmann and our black pearl Dominator 2000 Z (Diamant de Semilly x Cassini I) immediately made themselves heard last weekend during their first show of the new year! Just like many top riders, Ahlmann traveled to the St. Jakobshalle in Basel, Switzerland, and managed to achieve a top performance with the breeding product of Tony Forier during the Longines Grand Prix on Friday evening. Ahlmann and Dominator 2000 Z were again in good shape and were one of the fourteen combinations that managed to qualify for the jump-off after a clear round. In that jump-off it was a tough battle for victory and also Ahlmann and Dominator 2000 Z tried their best to take home the first place. Where most combinations started their jump-off with 8 strides in the first line, Ahlmann opted for 7 strides. He then kept the rythem high and the turns short and a finish time of 32.27 seconds eventually earned him a third place in the ranking.
Next to Dominator 2000 Z, Ahlmann also brought the 9-year-old chestnut stallion Otterongo Alpha Z (Darco x Hedjaz – B: Jozef Poets) to the start in Basel and he was also placed with him. During the 1.45m class earlier on Friday, they managed to keep it clear in both the 1st and the 2nd phase and with a finish time of 28.83 seconds they secured a ninth place in the ranking
In the same class there was a podium place for the French rider Simon Delestre with the 10-year-old gelding Dexter Fontenis Z (Diarado x Voltaire – B: S.C.R.I S.Ky Horses). They finished in that 2nd phase in 27.91 seconds with which they jumped into a second place.
Before the start of this class there was a second 1.45m class on the program and here too we saw a Zangersheide horse on the podium. The third place went to the French rider Kevin Staut with the 10-year-old mare Beau de Laubry Z (Bisquet Balou van de Mispelaere x Nabab de Rêve – B: Haras de Laubry). They managed to keep all the poles in the cups during this speed class. For the Swiss rider Yannick Jorland and the 10-year-old stallion L'arc En Ciel Z (L'arc de Triomphe x San Remo - B: Virginie Livenais Earl Elevage Ly) there was a fifth place. They also managed to ensure a clear round here.
During the opening day on Thursday, the Luxembourg rider Victor Bettendorf jumped into the spotlight again with the 11-year-old grey gelding Simolo de la Roque Z (Spartacus TN x Casall – F: Alexindrine Hecart/Haras de la Roque). During the 1.40m class against the clock, they remained clear and this was good for a third place in the ranking. Finally, for the Norwegian lady rider Cecilie Hatteland there was a fifth place in this class with the 9-year-old mare Tourelle Z (Toulon x Fedor – B: Luc Didden).
