The second edition of the four-star show Le Printemps Des Sport Equestres in Fontainebleau rounded off in the best possible way for the thousands of French spectators that showed up! During the CSI4* GP on Sunday afternoon, it was the French local rider Roger-Yves Bost who became the winner with the 13-year-old grey stallion Cassius Clay VDV Z, a son of Calvino Z and Wolfgang who was bred by George Van De Velden and who won in 2019 in Lanaken the Sires Of The World in 2019 under the saddle of the Dutch rider Rob Heiligers

Bost and Classius Clay VDV already jumped to an 11th place in the 1.50m class during the opening day on Thursday and were one of the 14 combinations that managed to qualify for the jump-off during the CSI4* GP. They managed to keep it clear again and with a finish time of 35.24 seconds they gave French spectators a dream winner!

Roger Yves Bost: “My horse Cassius has been in good form over the last few shows, but I admit that it is not often he goes so fast in a jump-off. He is thirteen years old and getting faster by the day! We really enjoyed the big arena of the Grand Parquet and this is the first event we have won together."

Another strong combination in Fontainebleau was Bost's compatriot Julien Anquetin with the 10-year-old grey stallion Z Ice Cube Z, a son of Zacharov TN and Casco who was bred by P.J. Amendt. Anquetin and Z Ice Cube Z won the 1.40m class on Friday and on Saturday they managed to secure a 3rd place during the 1.45m high Longines Ranking class. The Japanese rider Tomoki Koshidaka jumped to a 4th place in this class with the 10-year-old grey stallion Cortis de Nyze Z (Cayado x Mr. Blue – B: Danny Nijs).

During the opening day on Thursday, two Zangersheide horses also managed to jump to a place on the podium. For example, during the 1.50m main class there was a 2nd place for the French rider Nicolas Deseuzes with the 10-year-old stallion Eldorado Sunheup Z (Eldorado van de Zeshoek TN x Quartz du Chanu – B: Carine Groualle Elevage Sunheup) and during the 1.40m class there was also a 2nd place for the Luxembourg rider Victor Bettendorf with the 11-year-old grey gelding Simolo de la Roque Z (Spartacus TN x Casall ASK – B: Alexandrine Hecart).

CSIU25 competition

Next to the CSI4* competition, there were also classes for the international youth in Fontainebleau and during this CSI25 competition it was the French rider Lucas Fournier who jumped into the picture with his 9-year-old mare Cyranan Z, a daughter of Cyrano du Ruisseau Z and Heartbreaker who was bred by Gobessi Joy Najem Francesca. Fournier and Cyranan Z immediately started their show very well, because on Wednesday during the opening day they immediately managed to ensure a 4th place in the 1.40m high opening class.

The highlight of the weekend came on Friday when Fournier and Cyranan Z became the winners of a second 1.40m class. The duo managed to keep it clear in both the 1st and 2nd phase and with a finish time of 35.29 seconds they were almost half a second ahead of the competition.

But also during the CSIU25 GP there was a leading role for Fournier and Cyranan Z. In a jump-off for which 7 combinations were able to qualify, they again managed to ensure a clear round and with a finish time of 39.53 seconds they took 2nd place in the ranking and this at 23 hundredths of a second from the winner Camille Conde Fereira (Corrado du Moulin).

Furthermore in this GP there was a 5th place for the Swiss lady rider Géraldine Straumann with the 15-year-old mare Quloma Z (Quasimodo Z x VDL Groep No Limit – B: Jan de Visser) and a 6th place for the French lady rider Chloé Michellier with the 11-year-old mare Calandula Z (Calgary du Seigneur x Garanco – B: Vorselmans & Geurts).
