Strong weekend for Eldorado Sunheup Z in ST.Tropez
HUBSIDE JUMPING
After the GP victory of Lorenzo de Luca and the Colorit Z son Carlson 86 during the opening week, last weekend we looked forward to seeing how the Zangersheide horses fared during the second week of the Hubside Jumping in St. Tropez. The most eye-catching name of the weekend was the 10-year-old stallion Eldorado Sunheup Z, a son of Eldorado van de Zeshoek and Quartz du Chanu who was bred in France by Carine Groualle. Eldorado Sunheup Z appeared at the start under the saddle of the French rider Nicolas Deseuzes and together they managed to achieve a top performance twice. After a 5th place during the 1.45m high Longines Ranking class on Saturday, they were one of the 7 combinations that managed to qualify for the jump-off during the 1.55m high CSI3* GP on Sunday. As 2nd combination at the start, they again managed to ensure a clear round and this performance was good for a 4th place in the ranking.
The CSI2* GP also took place on Sunday and here too we saw a Zangersheide horse in the top 10 of the ranking. The 7th place went to the French rider Michel Robert with the 9-year-old gelding Calasto Z, a son of Calvaro Z and Stakkato who was bred in the Netherlands by Hans Schipper and with whom he already jumped to an 8th place during the 1.45m high Longines Ranking class on Friday. In a jump-off for which 9 combinations were able to qualify, Robert and Calasto Z had to deal with 4 penalty points.
It became also another successful week for the Irish rider Trevor Breen with the also 9-year-old grey mare Cindy Z, a daughter of Clarimo and Casall who was bred in the Netherlands by Martinus van der Bruggen and also a reference of our Zangersheide Quality Auction. Just like the week before, the duo won the 1.40m class on Sunday and furthermore they also jumped to a 2nd place during the 1.35m class on Saturday.
Who was also placed in these 2 classes was the Spanish lady rider Leticia Riva Gil with the 10-year-old gelding Zamarano Z (Zacharov TN x Calvados – B: J. Bankers). They placed 8th in the 1.35m class on Saturday and in the 1.40m class on Sunday, they followed in 2nd place just after Breen and Cindy Z.
During the opening day on Thursday, the Belgian rider Wilm Vermeir secured a victory with the 8-year-old mare Dirina O.H. Z, a daughter of Dicasi O.H. and Clarimo who was bred by Guido Op 't Eynde. During the 1.40m high opening class they managed to beat the competition with a clear 2nd phase in 27.75 seconds. Two days later the duo also secured an 8th place in a 1.45m class. During the 1.50m Longines Ranking class on Saturday, Vermeir placed 7th with the 11-year-old gelding Crescendo MB Z (Clinton I x Jodokus – B: M. Bokdam).
Finally, the French rider Olivier Perreau managed to jump into the picture twice with the 9-year-old stallion Calypso Des Joanis Z (Clearway x Chellano Z – B: Stephanie Monier). They started their show on Thursday with a 3rd place in the 1.40m class and became 9th during the 1.50m class on Saturday.
