Victories for Guidam Sohn The Second Z and Halima van het Bonte Hof Z in Ommen
CSI Ommen
Next to the first week of the Summer Festival in Valkenswaard, on Dutch soil there was of course also CSI Ommen last weekend. Here, too, a few Zangersheide horses appeared at the start who managed to ensure great performances and victories.
During the 1.40m class on Sunday morning, for example, there was a victory for the Belgian rider Koen Vereecke with the 10-year-old chestnut mare Halima van het Bonte Hof Z, a daughter of Hos d'O and Heartbreaker who was bred by Leen Brackmans. In a class against the clock, Vereecke and Halima van het Bonte Hof Z rushed to the finish in 59.39 seconds and so managed to beat the competition.
On Sunday afternoon it was looking forward to the CSI3* GP and here too we saw two Zangersheide horses in the top 10 of the ranking. For example, there was a 6th place for the Dutch rider Gerben Morsink with his 14-year-old home-bred stallion Navarone Z (Nabab de Rêve x Amor), with whom he won the CSI2* GP of Kronenberg the week before. Morsink and Navarone Z had to deal with 4 penalty points during the first round, but thanks to a clear second round they finally secured a 6th place in the ranking. On Friday they already became 7th in the 1.50m class.
Who also managed to achieve a top 10 ranking during this CSI3* GP was Morsink's compatriot Pim Mulder with the 11-year-old gelding Memphis Z (Mylord Carthago x Candillo Z – B: Freek Hoogenboom). After a clear first round, they ran into 4 penalty points during the second round and this resulted in a 9th place in the ranking.
On Saturday it was the Dutch lady rider Britt Schaper who secured a blue/yellow victory with the 8-year-old stallion Guidam Sohn The Second Z, a son of Guidam Sohn and Indoctro who was bred by Cees den Boer. During the 1.45m high Speed & Handiness class they remained clear and with a finish time of 55.26 seconds they managed to keep the competition behind them. And also for Schaper and Guidam Sohn The Second Z this was already the second top ranking of the weekend, because the day before they jumped already to a 4th place in the 1.40m class.
Schaper's compatriot Remco Been was also placed in the 1.45m Speed & Handiness class with the 11-year-old gelding Bridgetown Z (Big Star Jr. x Carolus H – B: M.J. Greeve). They also managed to ensure a clear round and this was good for z 6th place in the ranking.
Also on Saturday, the Dutch rider Marc Houtzager jumped to a podium place with the 8-year-old grey gelding Cabelensky Z (Cornet Obolensky x Harley VDL – B: Bocken & Johansson Stables). During the 1.45m main class they managed to keep it clear in both the basic round and the jump-off and this resulted in a 3rd place in the ranking.
Finally, the American lady rider Ashley Vogel also managed to jump into the picture with the 14-year-old chestnut mare Bellissimo S Z (Bamako de Muze x Chin – B: Patrick Sebrechts). During the 1.40m class on Friday they jumped to a nice 2nd place after staying clear twice.
