On European soil we were able to enjoy the Prague Playoffs in the Czech Republic and the Stuttgart German Masters in Germany last weekend, but there was also action at five-star level on the other side of the ocean with the show of Monterrey La Silla in Mexico. Here too, the victory in the CSI5* GP had a strong Zangersheide touch thanks to the Danish lady rider Rikke Belinda Barker and her 11-year-old stallion Tabalou PS, a son of our stallion Taloubet Z and Balou du Rouet, who, as his name already suggested, was bred was by Paul Schockemöhle. Barker and Tabalou PS were one of 12 combinations that managed to qualify for the second and decisive round and they managed to impress by being the only combination who secured a flawless performance again.
Rikke Belinda Barker: “Tabalou was once again exceptional, giving everything for me in the arena. It was a tough track over two rounds. Only 4 clears in the first round and in the 2nd round, we decided to play it safe and go for the double clear. It is definitely the biggest win of my career and I will always be grateful to Tabalou for giving me so many amazing memories and experiences. He is truly one of a kind.”
But the 3rd place during this CSI5* GP also colored blue and yellow and the Mexican rider Nicolas Pizarro Suarez Martinez took care of this with the 11-year-old chestnut mare Atlantica du Soleil Z, a daughter of Jumex Sport Atlantus and Felin Pierreville who bred in Germany by Marianne Eichenberger and with whom Pizarro Suarez Martinez also finished 3rd during a 1.50m class on Friday. Pizarro Suarez Martinez and Atlantica du Soleil Z managed to do it more than 7 seconds faster than Barker and Tabalou PS in the decisive round, but they had already incurred 4 penalties in the first round. His compatriot Carlos Hank Guerreiro finished 9th during this CSI5* GP with the 9-year-old gelding H5 Portos Maestro WH Z (Picasso Z x Ogano Sitte – B: Frank Fory & Christophe Wouters).
After their victory during the CSI5* GP of San Miguel de Allende last month, it was also another successful weekend in Monterrey for the Irish rider Shane Sweenam and the 9-year-old chestnut gelding Cjoxx Z, a son of Comme Il Faut and Tlaloc la Silla who was bred in the Netherlands by Joop Timmer. Sweetnam and Cjoxx Z started their show well on Thursday with a 3rd place during the 1.45m class and they also managed to jump to a top ranking during the 1.45m class on Sunday. This time there was a 4th place for the duo. Carlos Hank Guerreiro finished 7th during this 1.45m class on Sunday with the also 9-year-old stallion H5 Ganesh Hero Z (Gemini xx x Diamant de Semilly – B: Luc Henry & Gerry Marron).
