Strong performances for Dexter Fontenis Z in Aachen

With the CHIO in Aachen we were ready for one of the most beautiful and prestigious shows of the year last weekend. A few Zangersheide horses also appeared at te start on the hallowed grass and again managed to provide a lot of great performances.

The most striking combination was the French rider Simon Delestre with his 10-year-old gelding Dexter Fontenis Z, the son of Diarado and Voltaire who was bred in France by Jérôme Hennau. During the opening day on Wednesday, Delestre and Dexter Fontenis managed to jump into the spotlight for the first time during the 1.60m class. They remained clear in the basic round, but Delestre decided not to start in the jump-off. It still earned them an 8th place in the ranking.

On Thursday evening Delestre also counted on Dexter Fontenis Z during the Mercedes Benz Nations Cup and the duo once again confirmed their good form. They remained clear during the first round and also during the second round they were among the strongholds of the evening with 4 penalty points.

On Sunday afternoon everyone was eagerly awaiting the Rolex Grand Prix and Delestre and Dexter Fontenis Z once again managed to deliver a strong performance here. They had to deal with a fault in the first round, but a fast finish time meant that they were among the best 18 combinations who qualified for the second rounds. They managed to ensure a clear round in that second round and with a total of 4 penalty points they secured a 7th place in the ranking.

Another combination that managed to jump into the picture again in Aachen was the Irish rider Daniel Coyle and his 13-year-old mare Legacy, a daughter of Chippendale Z and Bon Ami who was born at the home om breeder Rotty Romain as Chavantele Z and with whom Coyle became 2nd during the CSIO5* GP of Rotterdam the week before. Coyle and Legacy became the winners of the 1.50m class on Wednesday where they had more than half a second ahead of the competition with a clear 2nd phase in 29.53 seconds.

On Friday, the Belgian rider Wilm Vermeir managed to jump to a podium place with the 8-year-old chestnut mare Eytuka Of Two Notes Z (Emerald van 't Ruytershof x Chin Chin – B: Toby Huys). In this Speed ​​and Handiness class they managed to ensure a clear round and this resulted in a 3rd place in the ranking. Vermeir also jumped to an 8th place with the 11-year-old grey gelding Crescendo MB Z (Clinton I x Jodokus – B: M. Bokdam) and this during the 1.50m class on Wednesday.

Another combination who could look back with satisfaction on their show was the French rider Kevin Staut and the 9-year-old mare Beau de Laubry Z (Bisquet Balou van de Mispelaere x Nabab de Rêve – B: Haras De Laubry). They jumped to a nice 7th place in the ranking during both the 1.50m class on Thursday and during the 1.45m class on Friday. During the 1.45m class on Friday, there was also a 9th place for Belgian Champion Nicola Philippaerts with the 9-year-old mare Klaartje Z (Kannan x Flipper d'Elle – B: Ties Raijmakers).

Next to the CSIO5* competition, there were also some classes for the Young Riders on the program in Aachen and during the GP there was a podium place for vice-Belgian Champion Thibeau Spits with the 9-year-old Zangerheide approved stallion Calvino II de Nyze Z (Calvaro Z x Heartbreaker – B: Danny Nijs). In a jump-off for which 9 combinations were able to qualify, Spits and Calvino II de Nyze Z remained clear and this was good for a nice 2nd place in the ranking.
