Harry Allen and Kumina Della Caccia secure a new Irish world title!

The  FEI WBFSH Jumping World Breeding Championship for Young Horses 2023 concluded this afternoon with a thrilling final for the 7-year-old horses. The jump-off was once again a very great one and in the end it was Harry Allen and the mare Kumina Della Caccia who managed to secure a new Irish world title!

Just like during the final for the 6-year-olds, we also had a total of 40 combinations at the start for the 7-year-olds and, just like during the final for the 5-year-old horses, 11 combinations managed to qualify for the jump-off. One of those 11 combinations was the young Irish rider Harry Allen with the Italian-bred mare Kumina Della Caccia, a daughter of Kannan and Toulon who was bred by Coop. Soc. Agr. La Caccia-Onlus and who comes from the same damline as the stallion Kashmir van Schuttershof. As the 6th combination at the start, Allen and Kumina Della Caccia rushed to the finish in 35.30 seconds and whit this performance Harry wrote a world title on his list of honors 10 years after his older brother Bertram became world champion in het 6-year-olds!

Harry Allen: “Kumina Della Caccia is a fantastic horse and I even think she’s the best 7-year-old horse I have ever ridden! Everywhere we go she just jumps fantastic and actually a course with 4 penalties is a bad result for her (laughs). We also had a strong season with a victory during the final class in Bratislava and she also jumped 2 fantastic rounds in Aachen. We already sold her at our Aloga Auction last year, but we agreed that I could continue to ride her for a while until she’s 8 years old next year. Then we will make a new plan for her.”

The silver in this final went to the German rider Philip Rüping with the Oldenburg mare Casanina PS, a daughter of Casallco and Chacco Blue who, as her name suggested, was bred by Paul Schockemöhle. Rüping and Casanina PS had just taken over the lead with a clear round in 35.90 seconds, but ultimately had to settle for 2nd place.

Just like during the final for the 6-year-olds, the bronze went to the Netherlands and this time lady rider Renee de Weert took care of this. She was sitting in the saddle of the KWPN mare Labantrix, a daughter of Eldorado van de Zeshoek and Abantos, who was bred by Stal van den Broek and who is also a half-sister of the mare Z-Canta VDM (Casantos), who jumped at 1.60m level under the saddle of the American lady rider Catherine Pasmore. De Weert and Labantrix started as the 3rd combination in the jump-off and managed to reach the finish in 38.55 seconds.
