With a view to acceptance into the Zangersheide stud service 2024, the official stallion approval of Studbook Zangersheide VZW will take place at Studfarm Zangersheide (BE) on November 19, 2023. Both the already approved stallions and the newly to be approved stallions under saddle are subject to this approval.

Conditions of entry:

The approval is open for all 4 yr-old and older stallions (birth year 2019) registered with a recognized studbook and with documented ancestry over four removes.

Entry:

The selections can be entered by completing and returning adjoining the entry form online on our website: www.zangersheide.com before the 13th of November 2023. Entries have to be accompanied by: • a copy of the ancestry document of the stallion and, when available, a copy of the ancestry document of his dam; • data demonstrating that the stallion comes from a family which can be considered attractive for showjumping horse breeding, as well as official information about the possible licensing status of the stallion with other studbooks; • for 5-yr-old and older newly to be licensed stallions, proof of possible own sport and/or breeding performance, confirmed by the federation of the country in which such performance has taken place; • for all newly to be licensed stallions, v/a clinical report (you are obliged to fill out this clinical rapport, you can download it from our website: www.zangersheide.com) and minimum of 16 X-ray photographs of technically sound quality, specifically - refer to clinical report, page 3. These photographs shall not be older than one year.

Pre-Selection:

After registration we will make a pre- selection based on the X-ray exam. The selected horses will then be invited to come to the actual approval. Upon first viewing of their stallions owners shall submit the original ancestry document(s) to the competent secretarial staff.

Vaccination:

All stallions invited to the selections must have been vaccinated against influenza/ tetanus. Vaccination certificate must be shown on request.

Selection obligations:

A. NEWLY TO BE LICENSED STALLIONS

To be newly licensed, the following obligations must be met:

a. 4-yr-old stallions: conformation selection as shown in hand and in free jumping or jumping a standard course (at the owner’s choice - please state this choice on the entry form);.

b. 5-yr-old to 12-yr-old stallions: conformation selection as shown in hand and jumping a standard course. EXEMPTION: exemption can be granted by the selection committee for jumping of the standard course, if written proof is given by the relevant sport federation that the stallion has started at international level and/or national level at S-level(140cm), has had three wins of five placings (first up to and including fifth place).

c. 13-yr-old and older stallions: conformation selection as shown in hand and assessment of the own performance and/ or performance of offspring. The selection committee will asses these date on the basis of written proof submitted by an official body (sport federation and/or studbook). These stallions are exempted from jumping the standard course.

The selected stallions belonging to the categories mentioned above under a, b, and c are obliged to undergo veterinary examination (clinical and X-ray) before being allowed to offer their services. This examination in connection with First licensing is performed by a veterinarian thereto designated by Studbook Zangersheide. The findings of the relevant veterinarian will be definite. Of all licensed stallions the DNA pattern will be recorded. All newly to be licensed stallions shall be measured.

B. ALREADY Z-LICENSED 5-YR-OLD STALLIONS:

Stallions approved for Studbook Zangersheide vzw at the age of 2, 3 or 4 years can be approved for life if they reach the age of 5 in 2023. This approval can be granted after participation and evaluation by the jury in the standard course or after evaluation by the jury of 3 different competition videos of the stallion.  Also, for these stallions, a list of achievements must be submitted, substantiated by the sports organization of the country where the achievements were made.

Costs of the selection:

The inspection fee for the new stallions is € 500,- to be settled as follows; € 100,- for registration with RXs, € 400,- when invited (after evaluation of the RXs). The bill will be sent by e-mail. Inspection fees for already approved stallions of five years are € 250,- to be settled at registration. Travel and accommodation costs will be borne by the owner. The stallions invited to the judging days can be stabled on the spot, provided that a reservation is made at registration!  Stabling costs are € 20 (excl. VAT) per day, payable on arrival. During the presentation of the stallions, appropriate clothing must be wore, blue sweater / T-shirt and jeans. Approved stallions will be entered in and under the rules of Studbook Zangersheide VZW, as stipulated in the Technical Regulations. No appeal is possible against the verdict of the jury. Attendance and participation are at your own risk. Neither the organization nor its employees, including doctors and veterinarians, are liable for damage and/or accidents. The organization reserves the right to change the program if necessary or desired, to interrupt or terminate the judging or to cancel it if unforeseen circumstances so require. The organization does not accept any liability in this matter, also with regard to third parties. Where the regulations do not provide for this, the board of Studbook Zangersheide will make a binding decision. By signing the entry form the participants declare to agree with the above condition.
