At his retirement ceremony in 2019, a packed arena filled with a teary-eyed crowd paid an emotional tribute to one of the sport's true legends: the iconic stallion Codex One Z, who is celebrated as one of the greatest stallions of all time.
Winner of the prestigious CSI5* Aachen Rolex Grand Prix, winner of the 5* Global Champions Tour GP’s of Valkenswaard, Hamburg, and Berlin. London Olympic Games, 4th place at the WEG in Caen, and captured a team silver medal at the 2013 European Championship in Herning, earning over € 1.5 million in prize money throughout his fantastic career with Christian Ahlmann.
While Codex One Z wasn’t active in breeding during his career, his offspring might be few in numbers, but stand out, both in looks and in quality, as shining examples of their father. Notable examples include Curious George, highly successful up to 1.65m level under Laura Kraut and Doron Kuipers 1.60m performing I Am Codex. His impressive son Codex Diaz Z made headlines at the Zangersheide Quality Jumpers auction – powered by MBA, sold for a staggering €1,000,000, thus the highest-priced horse ever sold at a Zangersheide Auction.
