In Morocco, the three-week Morocco Royal Tour concluded last weekend with a four-star competition in El Jadida. Although there were no blue/yellow podiums in the CSI4* Grand Prix this time, we did once again see two Zangersheide horses in the top five of the standings.
The best performance in this came from 11-year-old grey gelding Pandora Boy Z, ridden by young Brazilian rider Luiz Felipe Neto de Azevedo. Pandora Boy Z is an offspring of Presley Boy combined with Latano I and was bred in Belgium by Luc Heye. Felipe Neto de Azevedo and Pandora Boy Z managed to join the eight combinations that managed to clear the technical basic round by course builder Uliano Vezzani and his team, securing their place in the jump-off. In the decisive round, the duo also set a great time in 42.05 seconds, but a single jumping fault ultimately kept them in 4th place.
Also in the top five we saw Belgian rider Celine Schoonbroodt de Azevedo and also the mother of Luiz Felipe Neto de Azevedo. She rode the 13-year-old grey gelding Clinto T Z, a son of Clintissimo Z and Indoctro from the breeding farm of Rudi Tans. With a time of 42.76 seconds and one bar in the jump-off, this duo eventually finished in a handsome 5th place.
Furthermore, Belgian rider Thomas de Wit had a successful weekend, managing to jump into the picture with two of his home-bred Z-horses. In the 1.50m class on Sunday, he managed to reach the podium with the 9-year-old stallion Ecuador Dw Z, a son of El Torreo de Muze and Quasimodo van de Molendreef. De Wit and Ecuador Dw Z were one of five combinations in the jump-off and secured an excellent 3rd place with a time of 35.26 seconds.
De Wit also jumped into the prizes three times with the 9-year-old grey mare Ice Twin Girl Dw Z, a daughter of I'M Special de Muze out of Wandor van de Mispelaere. After already finishing 14th and 7th in the 1.40m classes on Thursday and Friday, De Wit and Ice Twin Girl Dw Z experienced their highlight on Saturday with a strong 4th place in the 1.45m class.
