Amar Des Brimbelles Z shines in Arezzo
NIKLAUS RUTSCHI
With international shows in both the Equieffe Equestrian Center in Gorla Minore and the Arezzo Equestrian Center, last week were again busy days on Italian soil. At the Toscana Tour in Arezzo, the Swiss rider Niklaus Rutschi put in some strong performances with the 10-year-old chestnut gelding Amar des Brimbelles Z, a son of Amadeus Z and Russel who was bred in France by Haras des Brimbelles and who is also a half-brother of the Studbook Zangerheide approved stallion Crooner Brimbelles Z (Cornet Obolensky).
Rutschi and Amar des Brimbelles Z already won a 1.45m class in Gorla Minore 2 weeks ago and managed to repeat that performance last week in Arezzo. During the 1.45m high GP Qualifier on Thursday they managed to keep it clear in both the 1st and 2nd phase and with that they managed to beat the competition. But this duo also jumped into the picture during yesterday's CSI3* GP. In a jump-off for which 12 combinations were able to qualify, they kept all the poles in the cups and this performance resulted in a 5th place in the ranking this time.
Another striking combination in Arezzo was the Italian rider Giacomo Casadei with the 8-year-old stallion Delvaux van 't Prinsenveld Z (Darco x Nabab de Rêve - B: Stijn van Campenhout). They shined for the first time on Friday with a 2nd place during the 1.35m class and a day later followed a 3rd place during a 1.40m class.
Furthermore, the Belgian rider Ignace Philips De Vuyst was also placed twice with the 9-year-old grey mare Corradiena van 't Klein Asdonk Z (Cornet Obolensky x Andiamo Z - B: Eddy Thomas). Philips De Vuyst and Corradiena van 't Klein Asdonk Z started their show with a 3rd place during a 1.40m class on Thursday and on Saturday a 4th place followed during another 1.40m class.
On Friday there was also a 4th place for the Italian rider Filippo Lupis with the 10-year-old gelding Contito EB Z (Canturano I x Candillo Z – B: Beauty BVBA). In a class against the clock, Lupis and Contito EB Z managed to keep it clear.
Finally, a few horses managed to jump into the spotlight on Thursday. Next to the victory of Niklaus Rutschi and Amar des Brimbelles Z, there was during the 1.45m GP Qualifier also a 4th place for his compatriot Bryan Balsiger with the 9-year-old mare Cyra Z (Casimo x Balougran Z – B: J. van Kooten & B. Vink) and during a 1.40m class the Italian lady rider Gabriela Bresciani jumped to a 4th place with the 11-year-old gelding Ethanol Vert Z (E.T. Cryozootech x Calvaro Z – B: Philippe Mauban).
