On Saturday evening, 15th of February, the moment had come for one of the absolute highlights of the year, the eagerly awaited Zangersheide Stallion Auction, now in its third year, held during ‘the Zangersheide International’ at Sentower Park.
Following this week's Zangersheide Spring Stallion Approval, which featured 120 stallions, an exclusive and carefully selected collection of 19 standout highlights, among the newly approved stallions, went under the hammer of the renowned auctioneer Frederik de Backer.
The excitement and enthusiasm surrounding these future stars drew the attention of stallion owners, investors, and elite riders from around the globe, creating an electrifying atmosphere in the beautiful settings at Sentower Park. After a captivating performance by young Belgian singer Zita, known from the TV show ‘The Voice,’ it was time for the young stallions to enter the spotlight. The auction's top seller of the night was the magnificent Charcoal vd Berghoeve Z, who, after an intense bidding duel, sold for 125,000 euros to a Scandinavian top rider based in Belgium. This son of Chacco Blue, bred out of the famous mare MoM’s Gatoucha van ‘t Roosakker, is a brother of numerous international top performers such as Maestro van ’t Roosakker, H5 Alana Hero Z, Tinkoucha Hero Z, and Attoucha, granddam of the 2024 Auction topper.
After last year's success, with the winning bid on the 2024 auction topper Dourking Hero Z, a son of Studfarm Zangersheide’s Dourkhan Hero Z, Paul Schockemöhle had also this year set his eyes on a young stallion sired by one of Zangersheide's own studs. This time, Schockemöhle secured the winning bid on the grey Dominator 2000 Z son, Sir Dominator, who hails from the famous line of Holstein foundation sire Capitol I. The other Dominator 2000 Z son in the collection, Dominance 2000 Z, sold for 120,000 euros to X-clusive Stables, whose winning luck wasn’t only during the Auction but also in the competition ring at Sentower Park this weekend. With three stallions reaching bids of 100,000 euros and above, and with an average of nearly 60,000 euros, the Zangersheide Auction team concludes yet another successful auction.
Zangersheide extends its heartfelt gratitude to the breeders, bidders, buyers, and everyone in attendance for contributing to yet another thrilling and magical evening in the history of Zangersheide Auctions. As spring approaches, Zangersheide Auction is already gearing up for its annual online Spring Young Horse Auction, before the foals take over the auction calendar for the summer.
