The Zangersheide Equine Reproduction Days: knowledge, insight and inspiration

The Zangersheide Equine Reproduction Days were particularly valuable days for everyone involved in breeding, thanks to concrete transfer of knowledge and new insights provided. In this way, the studbook offers breeders and vets not only an exclusive look behind the scenes, but also in-depth knowledge about fertility, gestation and nutrition.

During these special days, participants received an extensive tour of the stables and stallions, but above all valuable insights from four renowned experts. Dr Myrthe Wessel shared her expertise on the optimal preparation of a mare who remained gust last season. Dr Maaike Lautenschutz discussed recognising problems in late pregnancy, while Prof Peter Daels (UGent) spoke about stimulating milk yield and foal adoption. Finally, Wendy Wambacq offered an engaging session on proper nutrition for lactating mares.

Participants returned home with a wealth of knowledge - about the stallions, the daily business at Zangersheide and, above all, how to optimally prepare their mares for the new season.
