Last weekend, there was of course a lot of attention on the World Cup competition at Jumping Amsterdam, but at the Longines Arena of Al Shaqab in Doha, there was jumping at five-star level. The highlight of the weekend was of course the CSI5* GP and in it there was a leading role for Danish rider Rikke Belinda Barker with her 12-year-old stallion Tabalou PS, a son of our stallion Taloubet Z and Balou du Rouet who was bred in Germany by Paul Schockemöhle. Barker and Tabalou PS brilliantly won the CSI5* GP of Monterrey La Silla in Mexico back in November and were one of four combinations to qualify for the jump-off in Doha on Saturday evening. In it, they managed to keep it neatly clear again and with a time of 41.78 seconds they secured 3rd place in the standings this time.
Also on Saturday, another 1.50m class took place in Doha, in which Austrian rider Gerfried Puck managed to jump to a top 10 ranking with the 12-year-old mare Equitron Melody Vd Smidshoeve, a daughter of Epleaser Van 't Heike Z and Thunder van de Zuuthoeve from the breeding farm of Hugo Stevens. Puck and Equitron Melody Vd Smidshoeve won a 1.50m class a fortnight ago and managed to finish 7th this time.
Who also managed to jump into the limelight again was Saudi rider Khaled Abdulrahman Almobty with the 9-year-old mare Diana du Plevau Z, a daughter of our newest addition Dieu Merci Van T&L Z and Kashmir van Schuttershof, bred by Marc Palm and with whom Almobty also had a strong showing the week before. So on Thursday during the opening day, the duo immediately secured a podium place in the 1.45m Longines Ranking Test. In both the 1st and 2nd phases, they managed to keep all the poles in the scoops nicely, which earned them 2nd place in the rankings. On the following day Almobty and Diana du Pleavau Z confirmed their good form with a 5th place in the 1.50m class.
Furthermore, it was another successful weekend for Liechtenstein rider Jennifer Hockstadter with her 13-year-old stallion qw, a son of Tinka's Boy and Caretino from the breeding farm of Vincent Jourdan and Luc Henry. Hochstadter and Tinka's Hero Z finished 4th in the 1.45m Longines Ranking Test on Thursday and on Friday they managed to secure 6th place in another 1.45m Longines Ranking Test.
Finally, last weekend in Doha, there was also success for the offspring of our chestnut stallion Aganix du Seigneur Z, thanks to Thai rider Janakabhorn Karunayadhaj. Karunayadhaj jumped to a 10th place during the 1.45m class on Friday with the 10-year-old mare Maxwin All Pleasure Hero (Aganix du Seigneur Z x For Pleasure – Bred by: Horse Invest Ltd HPBNL), and during the 1.50m main class, she secured a lovely 2nd place with the 12-year-old mare Maxwin Kinmar Agalux (Aganix du Seigneur Z x Lux Z – Bred by: Gerrard Marron).
