Next to the many international shows abroad, there was also some international action on Belgian soil last weekend and this took place in Sentower Park, Opglabbeek. The highlight of the weekend was of course the CSI2* GP on Sunday afternoon and there was a top 5 ranking for the German lady rider Kendra Claricia Brinkop with the 8-year-old stallion Tabasco de Toxiandria Z, a son of Thunder van de Zuuthoeve and Cento Lano who was bred by Werner Dierckx. Brinkop and Tabasco de Toxandria Z were already good for a 6th place during the 1.45m class on Thursday during the opening day and were one of the 10 combinations that managed to advance to the jump-off during the CSI2* GP. They once again managed a flawless round and with a finishing time of 36.02 seconds they secured a 4th place in the rankings.
Another notable name in Opglabbeek was that of the Belgian rider Cyril Cools, who appeared the start with several Z horses and achieved great results with all of them. One of those horses was the 13-year-old grey mare Cloe GP Z, a daughter of Corrdino CH and Takashi van Berkenbroeck who was bred by Juan Carlos Hernandez. Cools and Cloe GP Z were also among the 10 combinations that managed to qualify for the jump-off in the CSI2* GP and they even managed to set the fastest time in 34.28 seconds. Unfortunately, a pole fell out of the cups along their way, meaning they had to settle for a 7th place.
On Friday, Cools managed to secure a victory with the 8-year-old mare Coryfee T&L Z, a daughter of Corydon van T&L and Bentley van de Heffinck, who was bred by NV T&L. During the 1.35m class they had a small lead over the competition with a flawless 2nd phase in 26.32 seconds. On Sunday, Cools and Coryfee T&L Z confirmed their good form with a 7th place during the 1.40m class.
Cools also managed to jump to a top ranking with the 14-year-old grey mare Seahorse Z (Hunter's Scendix x Chellano Z - B: NV Chatho). During the 1.45m class on Saturday evening, Cools and Seahorse Z remained clear both during the basic round and the jump-off and this performance was good for a 3rd place in the rankings.
During this 1.45m class, Christian Ahlmann was also placed with our 8-year-old stallion Dourkhan Hero Z, the son of Sea Coast Don't Touch Tiji Hero and Zandor Z, who was bred by Luc Henry and with whom Ahlmann also jumped a clear round on Thursday and Friday. And also this time they delivered a flawless performance and this earned them a 6th place in the rankings.
Finally, during the 1.45m class on Thursday, a podium place was reserved for the Belgian rider Alexander Housen and the 12-year-old gelding Cayadix Hero Z (Cadence van 't Gelutt Z x Wandor van de Mispelaere -BF: Luc Henry). In a class against the clock they rushed to the finish in 62.75 seconds, which earned them a 2nd place in the rankings.
