Tabasco de Toxandria Z and Casual DV Z jump double clear in the Nations Cup of Rome

After the Longines Global Champions Tour of Madrid last week, another Nations Cup was on the programme at five-star level last weekend with Rome's magnificent CSIO at Piazza di Sienna. One of the highlights of the weekend there was, of course, the CSIO5* Nations Cup on Friday afternoon and in it two Zangersheide horses managed to stand out by jumping a clear round twice.
One of those horses was the 9-year-old stallion Tabasco de Toxandria Z, a son of Thunder van de Zuuthoeve and Cento Lano from the breeding farm of Werner Dierckx. Tabasco de Toxandria Z has now been a combination with German rider Kendra Claricia Brinkop for over six months and together they were part of Otto Becker's team in Rome last weekend. In it, they managed to ensure a flawless performance in both the first and second and decisive rounds, and with these two clear rounds they therefore had an important share in the German team's victory.
But Tabasco de Toxandria Z was not the only Zangersheide horse that managed to jump into the limelight during this Nations Cup. There were also two clear rounds for the Belgian rider Pieter Devos and his 9-year-old homebred mare Casual DV Z, a daughter of Cornet Obolensky out of the Cicero Z mare Just Me D, who also jumped at the highest level with Devos. With these two clear rounds, Devos and Casual DV Z confirmed their good form of the past weeks and contributed to a 3rd place for the Belgian team.
Another striking combination in the Italian capital was French rider Kevin Staut with his 11-year-old gelding Beau de Laubry Z, a son of Bisquet Balou van de Mispelaere and Nabab de Rêve from the breeding farm of the Haelterman family of Haras de Laubry. Staut and Beau de Laubry Z shone on Friday morning with a win in the 1.55m class, where they were almost 3.5 seconds ahead of the competition with a convincing finishing time of 59.68 seconds. A day later, they additionally confirmed this performance with a 6th place during another 1.55m class. Then a fault in the jump-off kept them from another podium place.
In that 1.55m class on Friday, there was also a podium place for Italian rider Alberto Zorzi with the 12-year-old gelding Cortez van 't Klein Asdonk Z, a son of Cornet Obolensky and Andiamo Z bred for Eddy Thomas. Zorzi and Cortez van 't Klein Asdonk Z also managed to keep all the bars neatly in the scoops and their finishing time of 64.49 seconds was good for 3rd place in the standings.
On Thursday during the opening day, Belgian rider Zoe Conter immediately managed to secure a top ranking with her 10-year-old mare Tombola Z, a daughter of Toulon and Dominard bred by Verschueren, Witters, Stevens & Vd Velde. During the 1.50m main class, Conter and Tombola Z could not be caught out on any faults and this performance earned them2nd place in the standings. For the American rider Lillie Keenan there was another 6th place in this class with her 13-year-old stallion Agana van het Gerendal Z (Aganix du Seigneur Z x Topas - B: Familie Verhey/Stal Gerendal) and this after also a clear round.
Finally, Dutch rider Lars Kersen also managed to jump into the prizes with two Zangersheide horses. In the 1.45m class on Friday, he finished in 6th place with the 11-year-old gelding Boebka vh Marienshof Z (Balou du Rouet x Clinton - B: Stal Marienshof) and in the 1.45m class on Friday he finished in 7th place with the 9-year-old gelding Chuck Marienshof Z (Colestus x Emerald van 't Ruytershof - B: Stal Marienshof).
