While Spain jumped for World Cup points at the Madrid Horse Week last Sunday, many top riders also travelled to Sweden for the Sweden International Horse Show, an exclusive four-star show held in the capital Stockholm. Home rider Peder Fredricson was also present and had a successful weekend with the 10-year-old chestnut stallion SV Vroom de la Pomme Z, a son of Vigo d'Arsouilles and Untouchable from the breeding farm of Geert Baertsoen of Haras de la Pomme.
Fredricson and SV Vroom de la Pomme Z made a strong first appearance on Friday with a 7th place in the 1.50m main class, but held their own during the CSI4* Grand Prix on Sunday. Indeed, they were one of nine combinations to clear the 1.55m basic round run by arena builder Peter Lundström, securing a spot for the decisive jump-off. In it, the duo managed to repeat that flawless performance from the basic round and with finishing times of 42.36 seconds, they secured their first-ever Grand Prix victory.
Peder Fredricson: "It has not been an easy journey with Vroom de la Pomme, despite the fact that he has a lot of talent. But now he is starting to understand what is asked of him and that is a great feeling to achieve. It was a fantastic weekend and a great competition. The atmosphere with the crowd was fantastic."
Furthermore, Belgian rider Olivier Philippaerts also managed to jump into the spotlight twice with the 8-year-old grey stallion Nobel van de Vrombautshoeve Z, a breeding product of Peter Boelens who combined the blood of Nabab de Rêve with that of Corrado I. Philippaerts and Nobel van de Vrombautshoeve Z were good for 10th place in the 1.45m class on Thursday during the opening day, and a day later they managed to take 7th place during another 1.45m class.
