With the CSIO of Samorin in Slovakia, last weekend saw another competition of the Longines EEF Series on the programme, the Nations Cup circuit now organised for the third year in a row at three- and four-star level. The CSIO3* GP on Sunday afternoon was of course one of the highlights of the weekend and in it, it was Italian rider Omar Bonomelli who managed to claim the lead with the 12-year-old stallion Chippendel de la Tour, a son of our stallion HH Conrad Z and For Pleasure bred in France by Eric Seroude.
Bonomelli and Chippendel de la Tour were also good for a clear round at the Longines EEF Nations Cup on Friday, but had clearly saved their best performance for during the final day on Sunday. Of the 52 combinations that competed in this 1.55m class, they were one of only two combinations to stay clear in the spirited first round and thus managed to advance to the jump-off. In it, they were the only combination to repeat this flawless performance and thus impressively added this CSIO3* GP to their record of achievements.
But not only in Samorin last weekend was there success for the blood of HH Conrad Z, also during the CSI4* GP of Opglabbeek we saw one of his offspring at the top of the rankings. For this, Irish rider Michael Duffy and the also 12-year-old gelding Claptonn Mouche, a son of HH Conrad Z and Elan de Cour who was bred in France by GAEC Mouche and with whom Duffy still managed to win the LGCT Grand Prix of Miami in April. In both the basic round and the jump-off, Duffy and Claptonn Mouche managed to keep all the bars neatly in the scoops and this performance earned them 4th place in the standings.
