Next to the Longines Global Champions Tour in Cannes and the CSIO5* of La Baule on European soil, there was also a five-star show at Spruce Meadows in Calgary, Canada, last weekend. During the CSI5* GP on Sunday there was a podium place for the Irish rider Darragh Kenny with the 12-year-old chestnut mare Arna 't Kruisveld Z, a daughter of Arko III and Indoctro who was bred by Johan Torrekens and who was part of the stable of the Belgian rider Karel Cox until last year.

Kenny and Arna 't Kruisveld Z jumped already into the picture on Thursday during the opening day with a 2nd place during the 1.45m high speed class and were one of the 4 combinations that were able to qualify for the jump-off during the CSI5* GP. As second combination at the start, the duo rushed to the finish in 47.53 seconds and this performance earned them another 2nd place in the ranking.

Two days earlier, the American rider Kent Farrington again achieved a great performance with his 10-year-old chestnut gelding Landon, a son of our chestnut stallion Comilfo Plus Z and Quadrillo who was born at the home of breeder Danny Nijs as Crack de Nyze Z and with whom Farrington won the CSIO5* GP of San Miguel de Allende in April. In the 1.55m main class, Farrington and London were one of 9 combinations that qualified for the jump-off and the secured a 3rd place in the ranking after another flawless performance.

Next to the 2nd place of Darragh Kenny and Arna 't Kruisveld Z, we saw several other Zangersheide horses in the top of the ranking during the 1.45m class on Thursday. There was a 4th place for Darragh Kenny with the 9-year-old stallion Hamrah van het Exelshof Z (Harley VDL x Cassini I – B: Exelhof), a 5th place for the American lady rider Lillie Keenan with the 8-year-old stallion Chili Pepper H M Z (Cornet Obolensky x Caretano Z – B: Familie Mievis-Huysegoms), a 6th place for her compatriot Mimi Gochman with the 10-year-old grey stallion Cosmos BH (ex Cosmos Z - Chellano Alpha Z x Artos Z – B: Stoeterij Zangersheide) and a 7th place for the British lady rider Amanda Derbyshire with the 11-year-old stallion Otto BH (ex No Mercy Van T Kamerveld Z - Norton d'Eole x Toulon – B: Patteet & Van Ransbeeck).

Finally, there was also a CSI2* competition on the program last weekend in Calgary and here too there was some blue/yellow success. During the CSI2* GP, a 4th place was reserved for the Spanish rider Sergio Alvarez Moy with the 15-year-old gelding Baltazar D Z (Balougran Z x Quidam de Rêvel – B: Evzen Duda). In a jump-off for which 6 combinations were able to qualify, they again managed to keep all the poles in the cups.
