Rustic Nancy in France hosted the Jump'Est international three-star competition last weekend, with yesterday afternoon's CSI3* Grand Prix of course being the absolute highlight. It turned out to be a beautiful afternoon for our blue/yellow colours with a stunning victory for Belgian rider Gudrun Patteet and her 9-year-old mare Sea Coast Chica V.V. Z, a daughter of Comme Il Faut and Chacco Blue from the breeding farm of Evelyne and Colin Van Vreckom. Patteet and Sea Coast Chica V.V. Z were also in good form on French soil the week before with a 6th place at the CSI3* GP of Compiègne and yesterday they were one of the 15 combinations that managed to qualify for the jump-off. In it, they managed to repeat their flawless performance from the basic round once again and with a finishing time of 37.05 seconds, they got to write this GP on their record of achievements!
Gudrun Patteet: "I am very happy with this performance as this was only her second 1.55m class she jumped. Last week in Compiègne I took my time a bit in the jump-off, but today I took a bit more risk anyway and she did really great! Chica is a very talented mare and also very careful, but because she has so much blood she is not always the easiest (laughs). I have high hopes for her for the future."
Besides Gudrun Patteet and Sea Coast Chica V.V. Z, we also saw a second Zangersheide horse in the top 10 of the standings thanks to Patteet's compatriot Wilm Vermeir and the 9-year-old mare Magic Van 't Hulgenrode Z (Midas vh Endhouse x Vigo d'Arsouilles - F: Marcel De Ridder). They saw one bar roll out of the scoops in the jump-off, giving them 8th place in the standings.
Earlier in the day, Algerian Bouabdellah Chelef had also secured a victory with the 8-year-old stallion Arretot Wi Ro Z, a son of Arezzo VDL and Le Tôt de Semilly from the breeding farm of Winne De Rombout. In the 1.40m Accumulator class, Chelef and Arretot Wi Ro Z achieved a maximum score of 65 points and with a finishing time of 43.06 seconds, they had a slight lead over the competition. For Swiss rider Pius Schwizer, there was another 4th place in this class with the also 8-year-old Grigia Br Z (George Z x Comme d'Api Vd Hacienda Z - B: R.U. van Bommel). They too could not be caught out on a fault.
In the 1.45m Longines Ranking class on Saturday, victory went to Belgian rider Anthony Wellens and the 9-year-old mare Da Silva van 't Schaaphof Z, a daughter of Diamant de Semilly and Clinton bred by Maurice Van De Walle, with whom Wellens also managed to win a class at the second edition of 'The Zangersheide International' last winter. In a class against the clock, they sped to the finish in 64.82 seconds, putting them exactly 20 hundredths of a second ahead of the competition.
In addition, German rider Kendra Claricia Brinkop also managed to place in this class with the 12-year-old gelding Dawa de Greenbay Z, the son of Diarado and Schilling from Stephane Chantot's breeding farm. Brinkop and Dawa de Greenbay Z also kept all the bars neatly in the scoops and this earned them 4th place in the standings, just like during the 1.35m class on Thursday.
Also having another good weekend were Liechtenstein rider Jennifer Hochstadter and her 13-year-old stallion Tinka's Hero Z, the breeding product of Vincent Jourdan and Luc Henry who combined the blood of Tinka's Boy with that of Caretino. Hochstadter and Tinka's Hero Z already jumped to a brilliant 2nd place in the 1.45m main class on Thursday during the opening day, and they were good for 7th place in the 1.45m Longines Ranking class on Saturday.
Finally, there was also a podium place in Nancy for Swiss rider Anthony Bourquard with the 12-year-old mare Olympie De Lessac Z, a daughter of Origan de Lessac and Krug de Meia Lua bred in France by SARL Les Ecuries de Lessac. During the 1.40m class on Thursday, they provided a clear round, which earned them 3rd place in the standings.
