Besides the three-star competition, there was also plenty of competition at two-star level at St Tropez's Gassin Polo Club last weekend. At the CSI2* Grand Prix, there was once again blue-yellow success, this time thanks to British rider Millie Allen. She took the podium there with the 8-year-old grey gelding Clearround IL Mondo Z, a son of Comme Il Faut and Clearway, bred by Tim Naessens. Allen and Clearround IL Mondo Z were among the 31 combinations that managed to advance to the jump-off after a clear first round. In that, too, they managed to stay clear again, which earned them second place in the CSI3* Grand Prix, just like Bettendorf and Cancun Torel Z.
Silver was also up for grabs in the 1.45m Big Tour on Saturday, this time for Frenchwoman Alexa Ferrer and her 13-year-old grey mare Arka de la Hart Z, a daughter of Arko III and Kashmir Van Schuttershof, bred by Kevin and Maïte Maus. In a jump-off for which 15 combinations managed to qualify, Ferrer and Arka de la Hart Z once again jumped a perfect round and so, after their 5th place in the 1.40m class on Thursday, they managed to achieve another top ranking.
But third place during this Big Tour was also claimed by a Zangersheide horse, thanks to Ferrer's compatriot Vincent Bartin. Riding the 9-year-old gelding Natural Picobello Z, a son of Nabab de Rêve and Orlando, bred by the Ruant family of Picobello Horses, Bartin also managed a clear jump-off.
Another notable combination was young German Tony Stormanns and the 9-year-old mare Servus Z, a daughter of Solid Gold Z and Calato Z from the breeding farm of none other than Christian Ahlmann. In both the 1.35m class on Saturday and the 1.40m class on Sunday, Stormanns and Servus Z did not make a mistake and this earned them2nd and 7th place in the standings respectively.
Last but not least, we also got to enjoy a Zangersheide victory in St. Tropez. In the 1.35m class on Thursday, the win went to American rider Sloan Hopson and the 12-year-old grey mare Cordelia GP Z, a daughter of Cero I and Heartbreaker bred by Maximilien Elsen. During both the1st and2nd phases, Hobson and Cordelia GP Z could not be caught at a fault and with a finishing time of 31.76 seconds, they were more than a full second ahead of the competition. Frenchman Alexis Goulet and the 9-year-old mare Fiore Z (For Pleasure x Spartacus TN - B: Bv E.a.c) followed in2nd place in this class. They reached the finish line in 32.93 seconds after another double clear round.
