Last weekend saw the start of the renewed show jumping tour in Valencia on Spanish soil under the name 'Moura Tours in Valencia'. The opening week immediately turned out to be particularly successful for our blue/yellow colours with a Grand Prix victory for British rider Laura Renwick and her 11-year-old grey mare Enjoy CK Z, a daughter of Echo van 't Spieveld and Coronado from the breeding farm of Kristof Ceulemans;
With a 5th place in the 1.45m class on Thursday and a 3rd place in the 1.45m class on Friday, Renwick and Enjoy CK Z already had an excellent start to their competition, but the highlight of the weekend came during the CSI3* GP on Sunday afternoon. After a clear round they were one of the five combinations who managed to advance to the jump-off. In it, they managed to deliver another flawless performance and with a finishing time of 41.43 seconds, they were almost 2 full seconds ahead of the competitors.
Another outstanding combination in Valencia was Chilean rider Rodrigo Carrasco with the 12-year-old grey gelding Crescendo Mb Z, a son of Clinton and Jodokus bred by M. Bokdam, who is recently seen under the saddle of Belgian rider Wilm Vermeir. Carrasco and Crescendo Mb Z achieved a 6th place during the 1.45m class on Friday and then 4th place during the CSI3* GP.
Besides his good performance with Crescendo Mb Z, Carrasco also managed to jump into the limelight with the 12-year-old gelding Valuas Vd Horst Z, a son of Verdi TN and Cassini II bred in the Netherlands by H. Smeets. During the 1.40m class on Friday, they managed to secure a place on the podium with a 3rd place and a day later they followed this up with a 10th place in the standings during another 140m class.
Furthermore, it was another successful weekend for French rider Alexa Ferrer with her 13-year-old top mare Vitalhorse Naiade d'Elsendam Z, a daughter of Nabab de Rêve and Quattro B from the breeding farm of François Verhulst. After Ferrer and Vitalhorse Naiade d'Elsendam Z already started their show on Thursday with a 7th place during the 1.45m class, they also managed to qualify for the jump-off during the CSI3* GP, in which they were eventually good for a 5th place in the standings.
On Sunday, besides Laura Renwick's GP win with Enjoy CK Z, there was also a second Zangersheide victory. In the preceding 1.35m class, French rider Stanislas De Malet jumped to victory with the 10-year-old gelding Zambo M Z, a son of Zandor Z and Lupicor bred by Meulendijks Stables. In a class against the clock, they raced to the finish in 63.40 seconds, just under a full second ahead of the competitors.
Finally, there was also success in Valencia for Portuguese rider Antonio Matos Almeida with the 8-year-old stallion Chang N Z, a son of our chestnut stallion Comilfo Plus Z and Crown Z bred in Portugal by Luis Malafaia Novais. Matos Almeida and Chang N Z finished 6th in the 1.35m class on Friday and on Saturday they closed their week with a 2nd place in another 1.35m class.
