While people in the Netherlands were guests at the Peelbergen Equestrian Centre in Kronenberg last weekend, Jumping Bonheiden also featured an international two-star competition on Belgian soil. It was a good weekend for the various Zangersheide horses that competed there, but during the classes of the CSI2* competition they managed to secure no less than four victories.
One of those victories came in the name of Brazilian rider Thiago Ribas Da Costa with the 10-year-old chestnut mare Catharina W&W Z, a breeding product of Wilfried Rutten who combined the blood of Centurio 22 with that of Griseldi. Ribas Da Costa and Catharina W&W Z competed in the 1.45m Longines Ranking class on Friday in which they convincingly outclassed the competition. In a jump-off for which 15 combinations managed to qualify, they sped to the finish in 44.30 seconds and with that performance they were almost 2 full seconds ahead of the competition.
In the 1.40m class on Saturday it was the Belgian rider Andres Vereecke who took care of a blue/yellow victory with the 8-year-old chestnut stallion Cuba Libre van Paemel Z, a son of our grey stallion Cicero Z in combination with Calvaro Z. Vereecke and the breeding product of Stoeterij Van Baemel, who was also good for a 7th place in the 1.40m class on Friday, finished in 34.70 seconds, narrowly beating the competition.
During the opening day on Thursday, Vereecke's compatriot Anthony Wellens jumped to victory with the 9-year-old mare Da Silva Van 't Schaaphof Z, a daughter of Diamant de Semilly and Clinton bred by Maurice Van De Walle. During the 1.40m class, they crossed the finish line in 57.64 seconds, giving them a comfortable lead of over 2 full seconds over the competition.
Finally, Belgian rider Jens Vandenberk also managed to secure another victory with the 8-year-old chestnut gelding Quitero Z out of the breeding of Ruddy Bogaerts. After a2nd place in the 1.35m class on Saturday, Vandenberk sent the son of Quickley de Kreisker and Chellano Z to victory in the 1.35m class on Sunday. For his compatriot Roy Hanlon there was another 3rd place in this class with the 10-year-old mare Easytop Van De Kromsteeg Z (Emerald van 't Ruytershof x Parco - B: Rudy Rener and Ann Van Putte), the full sister of the Zangersheide Studbook-approved stallion Enjoy Van De Kromsteeg Z.
