Besides the many international competitions, last weekend was also an important one at national level. Saturday saw the start of a new edition of the Belgian Stallion Competition at the Azelhof in Lier, with over 250 stallions competing in all age categories. This of course included quite a few Z stallions making their appearance in the ring and both the 7- and 6-year-old stallions were blue and yellow in victory.
This first round of the Belgian Stallion Competition ended just after 8 p.m. with the series for the 7-year-old stallions, in which Gilles van Hamme and the stallion Extreme 111 Z claimed victory. Extreme 111 Z is a son of El Barone 111 Z combined with Bamako de Muze and, as his name already suggested, was bred by Stud 111. Van Hamme and Extreme 111 Z rushed to the finish in 27.57 seconds in the2nd phase, crowning them winners of this first round.
Also in the top five of the standings was Jean-Christophe de Grande with the stallion Damiro de Roulard Z09, a son of Diamant de Semilly and Heartbreaker bred by Molirent BVBA. They too managed to stay neatly clear in both the1st and2nd phases and with a chrono time of 30.28 seconds they secured 5th place.
6-year-old stallions
In the 6-year-old stallions, the victory was for rider Charlotte Degeest and her chestnut stallion Elite van de Molen Z, a son of Emerald van 't Ruytershof and Canezaro who was bred by Kristof Engelen and is a half-brother of the Grand Prix horses Max Master Z (Moujik de Sohan) and Kayenne Z (Kannan). Degeest and Elite van de Molen Z crossed the finish line in 28.18 seconds in the2nd phase, outclassing the competition.
Furthermore, Wim Vinckx and the stallion Dominguez van Sappenleen Z also managed to jump to a place at the top of the leaderboard. Dominguez van Sappenleen Z was bred by Sappenleen Stables and is a son of our stallion Dominator 2000 Z in combination with Numero Uno. Vinckx and Dominguez van Sappenleen Z nicely heeled it twice clear and this performance also resulted in a 5th place. Vinckx also came 9th with Hamilton van Sappenleen Z (Heartbreaker x Kannan - B: Sappenleen Stables) after another flawless round.
5-year-old stallions
In the 5-year-old stallions, we were then mainly looking forward to seeing how our own young stallions performed and all managed to ensure a flawless round. Ridden by Joe Clee, Ambassador Z(Aganix du Seigneur Z x Rubens du Ri d'Asse d'96 - B : Stoeterij Zangersheide), Nasdaq Z (Nixon van't Meulenhof x Casall - F: Hans Herbert Pohlmann) and Django Z (Dourkhan Hero Z x Captain Fire - B: Georg Sievert) did not make a single mistake in this first round.
