Besides the three-star competition at Indoor Friesland in Leeuwarden, the past few days on Dutch soil also saw another international show jumping competition in the beautiful accommodation of the Peelbergen Equestrian Centre in Kronenberg. Here, several Z-horses also managed to secure a victory.
One of those horses was the 11-year-old gelding El Salvador van 't Schaaphof Z, a son of Emilion van 't Schaaphof and Forever, who was bred by Maurice van de Walle. El Salvador van 't Schaaphof Z has been a combination with British rider Sammy Jo Coffin for several years and together they won the 1.35m opening class in Kronenberg last week on Thursday. With a clear second phase in 29.15 seconds, they were just under half a second ahead of the competition.
But Coffin and El Salvador van 't Schaaphof Z also came on strong in the following days. On Friday they finished 7th in the 1.45m GP Qualifier and on Saturday they closed their competition with a 3rd place in the 1.45m Medium Tour Final.
The victory during that 1.45m GP Qualifier was for the fast Brazilian rider Thiago Ribas Da Costa and the 11-year-old mare Catharina W&W Z, the breeding product of Wilfried Rutten who combined the blood of Centurio 22 with that of Griseldi. Ribas Da Costa and Catharina W&W Z raced to the finishing line in this class against the clock in a convincing time of 61.00 seconds, putting them more than three full seconds ahead of the competition.
Thiago Ribas Da Costa also appeared at the start in Kronenberg with the 10-year-old mare Honesty Ctv Z (Hoegie Van 'T Bergske x Mozart des Hayettes - B: Casais-Thonon-Vanhoutte) and they too managed to ensure blue/yellow success. Thus Ribas Da Costa and Honesty Ctv Z started their competition with a2nd place during the 1.40m class on Thursday, while they managed to secure an 8th place during the CSI2* Grand Prix on Saturday evening.
Finally, there were also 2 placings for both the German rider Sophie Hinners with the 9-year-old gelding Ilias-K van 't Kattenheye Z (Indoktro-K van 't Kattenheye Z x Con Spirito Z - B: Tony Raman and Mieke Strobbe) and the Dutch rider Caroline Devos-Poels with the 8-year-old gelding First Choice DV Z (For Pleasure x Cicero Z - B: Stal Devos). So Hinners and Ilias-K van 't Kattenheye Z finished 6th and 7th in two 1.40m classes on Thursday and Friday, while Devos-Poels and First Choice DV Z finished 9th in the 1.40m class on Thursday and a day later secured a handsome 4th place in the 1.45m GP Qualifier.
