Double silver for Sacha Beghuin and Elcup van Beek II Z in Courrière

After two weeks of international show jumping in Wuustwezel, people could enjoy Jumping International Courrière on Belgian soil last weekend, which was now in its third edition. One of the weekend's eye-catchers was Belgian rider Sacha Beghuin with his 12-year-old stallion Elcup van Beek II Z, the son of Elvis Ter Putte and Armitage from the breeding of Guido Herrijgers van 't Eirbissemhof.

Beghuin and Elcup van Beek II Z already came off particularly strong at the Longines Global Champions Tour in Stockholm at the end of last month with three podium finishes in the classes of the CSIU25 competition and continued that good form in Courrière last weekend. Having already secured a fine^2nd place in the 1.45m Longines Ranking class on Friday, the duo also had a leading role to play in the CSI2* GP on Sunday afternoon. In a jump-off for which 8 out of 55 combinations managed to qualify, Beghuin and Elcup van Beek II Z once again managed to ensure a flawless round and this performance again earned them^2nd place in the rankings.

Then again, ^6th place in this main event of the weekend went to Beghuin's compatriot Nathan Budd with the 10-year-old stallion Touardo Blue Z, a son of Toulon and Arko III bred by Hugues Delattre. Budd and Touardo Blue Z managed to put the very fastest time on the scoreboard in 42.74 seconds, but a mistake on the way ultimately kept them from victory in this Grand Prix.

Also on Sunday, there was another 1.35m class on the programme for the CSI2* competition, in which Brecht Goossens managed to jump to a podium place with the 15-year-old gelding Noukie Z, a son of Nabab de Rêve and Chin Chin bred by Rob Santermans. Goossens and Noukie Z, who were also good for ^7th place in the 1.35m class on Friday, kept it neatly clear in both the^1st and^2nd phases, which also earned them a^2nd place.

During the Longines Ranking Test on Friday, Thibeau Spits also managed to jump into the prizes with the 8-year-old stallion Conrad Quality Z, the breeding product of Quality Stud's Koen Terryn who combined the blood of Connor with that of Corrado I. Spits and Conrad Quality Z were also faultless in both the first and second rounds, thus securing ^4th place in the ranking.
