A new edition of the Belgian Stallion Competition kicked off at the Azelhof in Lier last weekend. Nearly 200 combinations appeared at the start during this 1st heat, which featured all age categories from 4 to 7 years old.
In the series for the 7-year-old stallions, the blood of our black pearl Dominator 2000 Z came strongly to the fore, with 2 offspring managing to jump to a place in the top 5 of the rankings. A 2nd place was reserved for Pieter van Den Berg with the stallion Destiny Van De Kapel Z, a son of Dominator 2000 Z and Gladstone, who was bred by his father Joris van Den Bergh. In the 2nd phase, van Den Bergh and Destiny Van De Kapel Z managed to stop the clock in 27.92 seconds, half a second too less for a victory.
Furthermore, Arno Boon also managed to impress with the stallion Deja Vu van de Hoge Weide Z, a son of Dominator 2000 Z and Rabino, who was bred by Noa and Hedwig Appelmans and with whom Boon also made a strong showing at the Belgian Stallion Competition two years ago. Boon and Deja Vu van de Hoge Weide Z also produced a double clear round, securing 5th place.
Earlier in the afternoon, Dominator 2000 Z's offspring had also made themselves heard in the classes for the 4- and 5-year-old stallions. In the 4-year-old stallions, for example, there was a clear round for Dimitri Taeijmans with the stallion Diego TN Van de Zeshoek Z (Dominator 2000 Z x Quote Capitol - F: Paul Merckx), while in the 5-year-old stallions, Matthias Hens with Den Joss D Z08 (Dominator 2000 Z x Bubalu VDL - F: Henrike van Doorn) and Wim Vinckx with Dominquez van Sappenleen Z (Dominator 2000 Z x Numero Uno - F: Sappenleen Stables) ensured flawless rounds.

Among the 6-year-old stallions, there was a leading role for Neal Vanderwegen with the stallion El Cid Z, a son of El Barone 111 and Echo vh Neerenbosch bred by Rene Buts. Vanderwegen and El Cid Z finished in 28.72 seconds in the 2nd phase and this performance also earned them 2nd place in the standings.
Just off the podium we saw Gilles van Hamme with the stallion Extreme 111 Z, a breeding product of Stud 111 who combined the blood of El Barone 111 Z with that of Bamako de Muze. Van Hamme and Extreme 111 Z did not make a mistake either. Wim Vinckx followed on the 5th place with Vivace Vd Kattevennen Z (Vivaldi du Seigneur x Cassini I - F: Otto Boje Schoof) and for Daisy Bruyninx there was a 6th place with Chadli de Bo Z (Cicero Z x Ustinov - F: Philipp Bormans).
