After last week's successful five-star competition, last weekend there was again international show jumping in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. This time there was a three-star competition on the programme, and this week too our blue/yellow colours of Zangersheide were excellently represented with some striking performances.
It turned out to be a particularly fruitful weekend for Canadian rider Erynn Ballard and the 10-year-old mare Queen Kinmar Hero Z, a breeding product of Luc Henry and Gerry Marron and a daughter of our Zangersheide stallions Kassander van 't Roosakker Z and Aganix du Seigneur Z. Ballard and Queen Kinmar Hero Z already made their presence felt on Thursday with a handsome 3rd place in the 1.40m class, but did not get up to speed until Friday in the 1.45m class with Winning Round. In the decisive round they did not make any mistakes and with a chrono time of 45.07 seconds they narrowly beat the competition.
2nd place in this 1.45m main class on Friday was for Belgian rider Zoe Conter and her 10-year-old mare Tombola Z, a daughter of Toulon and Dominard, bred by Verschueren, Witters, Stevens and Vd Velde. Conter and Tombola Z also left all obstacles untouched in the Winning Round, but they needed 45.29 seconds to reach the finish line. In the 1.45m class on Sunday, Conter and Tombola Z again jumped into the prizes, this time finishing 6th in the standings.
Finally, in the 1.50m class on Saturday, Zoe's younger sister Emilie Conter also managed to jump into the picture with the also 10-year-old mare Trixie Z, a daughter of Scuderia 1918 Tobago Z and Regilio from the breeding farm of Hugo De Witte. In both the basic round and the jump-off, Emilie Conter and Trixie Z managed to keep all the rails neatly in the scoops, which also earned them a great2nd place in the ranking.
