Cormina By P&S Z wins in Vejer de la Frontera

Spain's Vejer de la Frontera was down to the second week of the Andalucía Pre-Sunshine Tour last week, where several Z-horses also impressed this week, helping to jump into the limelight.

One of those horses was the 10-year-old mare Cormina By P&S Z, a daughter of Cornet Obolensky and Kashmir Van Schuttershof bred by Sofie Van Snick and Peter Rooseleer. Cormina By P&S Z forms a combination with Spanish rider Jorge Bidon Daurella and together they became winners of the 1.45m main class on Saturday. In a class against the clock, Bidon Daurealla and Cormina By P&S Z sped to a convincing finishing time of 72.03 seconds, putting them just under two full seconds ahead of the competition.

A day earlier, German rider Kendra Claricia Brinkop managed to secure a top ranking with the 11-year-old gelding Surprising Dream Sho Z, a son of Stakkato and Carthago Z bred in the Netherlands by Gert-Jan Brugging and Pia-Luise Aufrecht of Stal Het Oosterbrook. During the 1.45m Longines Ranking Test, Brinkop and Surprising Dream Sho Z nicely heeled it clear in both the^1st and^2nd stages and this performance resulted in a nice^2nd place.

Furthermore, Brinkop also had a successful weekend in Vejer de la Frnontera with the 8-year-old grey gelding Chinook Pommex Z, a son of Cicero Z and Cumano bred by Pommex/Stephex Stables & Haras de la Pomme. Brinkop and Chinook Pommex Z made their first appearance on Friday when they became ^5th during the 1.40m class, but a day later they did even better when they secured a ^4th place during another 1.40m class.

During that 1.40m class on Thursday, however, the best blue/yellow performance came from Belgian rider Charlotte Delhalle with the 8-year-old chestnut mare Nuance de la Limite Z, a breeding product of Freddy and Catherine Gustin who combined the blood of No Comment de Septon with that of Exploit de Roulard. Delhalle and Nuance de la Limte Z were 2 hundredths of a second faster than Brinkop and Chinook Pommex Z in the^2nd phase and so this duo was also ^4th in the standings.

On Thursday during the opening day, a 1.45m Longines Ranking class was also on the programme, in which Delhalles compatriot Nathan Budd secured a podium place with the 11-year-old stallion Touardo Blue Z, the son of Toulon and Arko III from the stud farm of Hugues Delattre. In this class against the clock, Budd and Touardo Blue Z crossed the finish line in 68.91 seconds, settling for ^3rd place.

Last but not least, Kendra Claria Brinkop also managed to jump into the prizes twice with the 9-year-old mare Eau de Vie Jeleena Dr Z (Elvis Ter Putte x Tornedo FCS - B: Dyllan De Rycke). So Brinkop and Eau de Vie Jeleena Dr Z started their competition on Thursday with a ^4th place in the 1.40m class, while another ^9th place followed in the 1.45m main class on Saturday.
