In the new World Cup season of the Western European League, they were already ready for the fifth leg of the season last weekend. To do so, over the past few days they went to the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle in Stuttgart, where a new edition of the Stuttgart German Masters took place from Wednesday to Sunday.
On Saturday evening, the 1.55m Prize of iWest there was the absolute highlight of the day. In this class, where tension and speed were central, the victory went to Belgian rider Pieter Devos and the 10-year-old chestnut mare Jarina J. This talented daughter of our grey stallion Cicero Z was bred by H.C.B.M. Janssen in the Netherlands and gave this victory a strong Zangersheide touch. Devos and Jarina J were one of the 9 combinations that managed to advance to the decisive jump-off, in which they had the luxury of being the very last combination to reappear in the ring. Devos and Jarina kept their cool and with a whirlwind finish time of 40.84 seconds they wrote this main class of the day on their record of achievements with a lot of conviction!
Third place in this closing class of the day was for Devos' compatriot Wilm Vermeir and his 9-year-old stallion Top Invest 313 Z, a son of Thunder van de Zuuthoeve and Concorde, who was born and raised at Wilm Vermeir's home. In the jump-off, they again kept all the rails neatly in the scoops, but needed 45.16 seconds to complete their round successfully. Swedish world number 1 Henrik von Eckermann was still good for 8th place in this class with the 9-year-old mare Cadjanine Four Seasons Z, a breeding product of Des Quatre Vents Ferme who crossed the blood of our stallions Comilfo Plus Z and Contagio Z.
Earlier on Saturday, Wilm Vermeir also managed to jump to a top classification with the 8-year-old mare Belle Amie vd Dassenheide Z, a daughter of Bamako de Muze and Emerald van 't Ruytershof bred by Jill Goossens. During the 1.45m speed class on Saturday morning, Vermeir and Belle Amie Vd Dassenheide Z could not be caught out on a fault and this led to a nice2nd place in the standings.
A day earlier, during the 1.45m class on Friday, Italian rider Giulia Martinengo Marquet stood out with her 9-year-old mare Captain Morgan Weering Z. This daughter of Carrera VDL and Arezzo VDL, bred by R. Lanting, delivered a flawless round that earned them a handsome2nd place.
Finally, it was also a successful weekend for Austrian rider Alessandra Reich and the 8-year-old mare Galadermie Pp Z (George Z x Diamant de Semilly - B: Stal Poppelaars). They already managed a 6th place during this 1.45m class on Friday and a day later the duo confirmed by jumping to a 5th place during another 1.45m class.
