German rider Philippe Weishaupt and his 14-year-old Contagio Z son Coby 8 had another strong weekend at the Mediterranean Equestrian Tour in Oliva, Spain! After their good performance last week during the opening week, including a win in a 1.45m Longines Ranking class, this time they jumped to a podium place during the CSI3* GP on Sunday. Weishaupt and Coby 8 were one of 15 combinations to go clear in the first round and advance to the jump-off. In that jump-off they managed to ensure another flawless round and with a time of 41.09 seconds they secured 2nd place in the standings.
Furthermore in this CSI3* GP there was also success for the blood of our chestnut stallion Epleaser Z thanks to the French rider Clement Boulanger and his 14-year-old mare Ghanati, a breeding product of Karel Van De Woestijne who combined the blood of Epleaser Z with that of Quadrillo. Boulanger and Ghanati also managed to keep the 0 on the scoreboard again in the jump-off and with a time of 42.32 seconds they managed to secure 4th place in the standings.
Just like last week, Swiss rider Yannick Jorand also managed to jump into the prizes again with the 16-year-old gelding Cipetto 2, a son of Contagio Z and Contender from the breeding farm of Christian Weiss. Jorand and Cipetto 2 started their week with a 4th place during the 1.45m high GP Qualifier on Thursday and on Saturday followed up with a 7th place during the 1.45m high Longines Ranking Test.
Furthermore, it was also a successful week for Belgian Junior Champion Mathieu Guery with his 10-year-old gelding Tender Dream Hero Z, a son of Thunder van de Zuuthoeve and Carthago bred by High Jumper Sprl. The young Guery started with a 2nd place during the 1.40m class on Thursday and the following days followed with a 9th place on Friday and a 7th place on Sunday during two 1.45m classes.
Who also managed to secure 2nd place was French rider Olivier Perreau with the 10-year-old stallion Calypso Des Joanins Z, a son of Clearway and Chellano Z bred by Stephane Monier. Perreau and Calypso Des Joanins Z, also good for a 4th place on Thursday, managed to achieve this 2nd place in the Gold 1.40m class on Friday and this after a clear round. The Turkish rider Derin Demirsoy followed in 3rd place with the also 10-year-old chestnut gelding Empire EH Z (Emerald van 't Ruytershof x Darco - F: Eurohorse BVBA).
Last but not least the Italian rider Davide Kainich also managed to jump to a podium place with the 14-year-old mare Naomi Z, a daughter of Numero Uno and Utrillo Z who was bred in Germany by Sandra Geraeds. Kainich and Naomi Z secured 3rd place in the 1.45m Longines Ranking class on Saturday after neatly keeping all the bars untouched during both the basic round and the jump-off.
