The result of Z horses in the sport is reflected in the Z-Ranking and anyone who features in the top echelon is made of the right stuff and can boast extraordinary genes that come to full fruition at five-star level.
Tobago Z’s (Tangelo vd Zuuthoeve) rich roll of honour under his rider Daniel Deusser translates into more than €600,000 in prize moneys. In the past six years Tobago Z stood five times on the podium of the Zangersheide ranking. As always, breeder Jonas Bellemans reacted in his typical matter-of-fact style. ‘Another victory? That’s his third time already and in the past two years Tobago Z came 3rd in the Z-Ranking. I clearly remember last year. We were each put in the spotlight on the very same day, Tobago Z in New York and myself in Lanaken. During the WC in Zangersheide Tobago Z and Daniel Deusser won the GCT GP, one day after they had triumphed in the GP Qualifier. So in just one weekend their earnings rocketed to € 125,000. What a cracking horse. The Z-Ranking mirrors his sport results: when Tobago Z gets out there he jumps onto the podium.’
Landon (Comilfo Plus Z) is paired to Kent Farrington. Landon was born as Crack de Nyze Z in Danny Nijs’s yard. By now he is ten years old and had his international breakthrough this year. That yielded about € 350,000 in one season. He jumped to the 2nd spot in the final leg of the Z-Ranking
Beauville Z (Bustique) with Maikel van der Vleuten in the saddle won Individual Bronze at the Tokyo Olympic Games (2021) and the WC in Herning (2022), where he also seized Silver with the Dutch Team. Pascal and Monique Habets are the breeders of Beauville Z, the winner of last year’s Z-Ranking. Now he finishes in 3rd place. This year he added another € 165,000 to his prize-money total after his victory in the GCT GP of Cannes. With a 3rd place in the GP of Miami he harvested yet another € 45,000.
