In the Spanish capital Madrid there was the 4th leg of the Longines Global Champions Tour, but also at the Royal Windsor Horse Show in Great Britain there was showjumping at five-star level last weekend. This also resulted in successes for the blue/yellow colors of Zangersheide, with on the opening day on Friday a home victory for the British lady rider Lily Attwood with her 13-year-old gelding Cor-Leon Vd Vlierbeek Z, a son of Calvaro Z and Omar who was bred by Chris Anne and Eva De Maeyer. Attwood and Cor-Leon Vd Vlierbeek Z appeared at the start during the 1.55m main class and were one of the 5 combinations that managed to qualify for the jump-off. They were the first to re-enter the ring and with a clear round in 34.54 seconds they immediately achieved a performance that would not be improved.

On Saturday it was the Swiss rider Martin Fuchs who secured a victory with the 9-year-old chestnut gelding Viper Z, a son of Vigo d'Arsouilles and Grannus who was bred in Germany by Guido Sperveslage. They became the winners of the 1.50m class where they managed to beat the competition with a clear 2nd phase in 37.03 seconds.

It was also another successful weekend for the French rider Roger-Yves Bost with the 13-year-old grey stallion Cassius Clay VDV Z, a son of Calvino Z and Wolfgang who was bred by George Van De Velden and with whom Bost already won the CSI4* GP of Fontainebleau last month. Bost and Cassius Clay VDV Z started their show on Friday with a 7th place in the 1.45m class and also managed to jump into the picture during the CSI5* GP on Sunday. In a jump-off for which 9 combinations were able to qualify, they again remained clear and this performance was good for a 5th place in the ranking.

The 6th place in this CSI5* GP was reserved for the Israeli rider Daniel Bluman with the 15-year-old gelding Ladriano Z (Lawito x Baloubet du Rouet – B: Gestüt Lewitz/Paul Schockemöhle). In the jump-off they managed to do it almost 1.5 seconds faster than Bost and Cassius Clay VDV Z, but they ran into 4 penalty points.

Finally, the French rider Kevin Staut secured a podium place with the 10-year-old gelding Beau de Laubry Z (Bisquet Balou Vd Mispelaere x Nabab de Rêve – B: Haras de Laubry). During the 1.55m class on Saturday they secured a 3rd place after they managed to keep it clear in both the basic round and the jump-off.
