5 victories in Vejer De La Frontera!
ANDALUCIA SUNSHINE TOUR
Last week, the 4th week of the Andalucia Sunshine Tour in Vejer de la Frontera brought again a lot of successes for the blue/yellow colors of Zangersheide! Next to many places of honor, we received a Zangersheide horse at the top of the rankings in no less than 5 classes!
For example, on Saturday the 1.40m high Royal Bliss Trophy was won by the American rider Michael Hughes with the 8-year-old gelding Conan van Koningspolder Z, a son of Corydon van T&L and Pachat II who was bred by Davy Van Ombergen. Hughes and Conan van Koningspolder Z were one of only 6 combinations that managed to qualify for the jump-off and with a clear round in 42.29 seconds they narrowly beat the competition. There was also a 4th place in this class for the Swiss lady rider Léa de Coulon with the 11-year-old gelding Goldfinger Z (Goldfever x Pilot – B: Jan Tops Horse Trading BV). They also managed to make it to the jump-off.
Also on Saturday there was a victory in the 1.35m class for the Belgian rider Cyril Cools with the 8-year-old mare Coryfee T&L Z, also an offspring of Corydon van T&L, in combination with Bentley van de Heffinck. The day before, Cools and the breeding product of Luc Tilleman jumped already to an 8th place and this time they managed to surpass everyone.
But it became a very successful week for Cools, because he also managed to jump into the spotlight with 2 other Zangersheide horses. On Friday he jumped to a 2nd place during the 1.45m high Longines Ranking class with the 13-year-old grey mare Cloe GP Z (Corrdino CH x Takashi van Berkenbroeck – B: Juan Carlos Hernandez). With a clear round in 65.75 seconds, he only had to tolerate the Moroccan rider El Ghali Boukaa (A Kyss). On Sunday Cools and Cloe GP Z confirmed their good form with a nice 5th place in the CSI2* GP. Here too they managed to keep it clear in both the basic round and in the jump-off. Finally, Cools was also placed twice with the 11-year-old stallion Dalet GP Z (Diamant de Semilly x Cartagene – B: Martina Romangnoli). After an 8th place during the 1.40m class on Friday, a 9th place followed on Saturday during the 1.50m class.
On Friday we also got a blue/yellow victory during the 1.35m class, thanks to the British lady rider Marnie Darcy Green and the 10-year-old mare Ice Cold Z (Iceman de Muze x Quidam de Rêvel – B: Yvonne Copal). In a class against the clock, Green and Ice Cold Z finished in a time of 58.55 seconds, which put them almost 3.5 seconds ahead of the competition. The day before they had also managed to take care of a podium when they finished 3rd in another 1.35m class.
The Victory in that 1.35m class on Thursday was for the Irish rider Ciaran Nallong with the 8-year-old mare Showoff AF Z, a daughter of our black stallion Solid Gold Z and Lamm de Fetan, who was bred by Ashford Farm. They rushed in this speed class to the finish in 61.64 seconds, giving them a comfortable lead of almost 2.5 seconds. During the 1.35m class on Saturday, Nallong and Showoff AF Z confirmed that performance with a 2nd place, just behind Cyril Cools and Coryfee T&L Z.
The 5th and last victory was secured by the British lady rider Megan Broadway with the 6-year-old mare Stella Butterfly Z (Stockwell Adelheid Z x Numero Uno – B: Stal Bergmans). On Saturday, they wrote the 1.10m class on their list of honors.
