Two victories for Quark de Preuilly Z in Opglabbeek

For the second week in a row, there was some international action on Belgian soil in Sentower Park, Opglabbeek, last weekend. After the CSI2* show of the week before, this time a CSI4* show took place at the home of the Meynaerts family. The Spanish rider Mariano Martinez Bastida managed to jump into the picture by winning 2 classes with the 10-year-old stallion Quark de Preuilly Z, a son of Quaprice du Bois Margot and Cento who was bred in France by Soc. Fermiere de Preuilly.
Martinez Bastida and Quark de Preuilly Z made an excellent start to their show on Thursday by winning the 1.50m Longines Ranking class. In a class against the clock, they managed to reach the finish in a convincing time of 62.25 seconds, which put them almost 3 seconds ahead of the competition. But also during the final day on Sunday, the duo managed to secure a victory. During the 1.45m Longines Ranking class they were one of the 12 combinations that managed to qualify for the jump-off and with a clear round in 33.41 seconds they were more than a full second ahead of the competition.
During the 1.45m Longines Ranking class on Saturday, the Belgian rider Anthony Wellens jumped to a podium place with the 11-year-old chestnut stallion Danger Civil vh Lindenhof Z (Diamant de Semilly x Silvio I – B: Jean-Pierre Bosch). Wellens and Danger Civil vh Lindenhof Z kept it clear in both the 1st and the 2nd phase and with a time of 30.81 seconds they secured a 2nd place in the ranking. There was also a 10th place in this class for the Chilean rider Jorge Matte Capdevilla and the 13-year-old mare Belly Fayvinia Z (Baloubet du Rouet x Raphael – F: H.J. Knegt), with whom he already became 8th during a 1.40m class on Thursday.
Also on Saturday, the French lady rider Chloe Michellier secured a podium place with the 11-year-old mare Calandula Z (Calgary du Seigneur x Garanco – B: Vorsselmans & Geurts). During the 1.40m class they remained clear twice and this performance earned them a 3rd place in the ranking.
Another 3rd place was reserverd for the Italian rider Lorenzo de Luca with the 10-year-old mare Promise Z (Gestion Z x Graf Grannus – B: Jonna Sundblad & CSE AB). During the 1.50m Longines Ranking class on Friday, they were one of the 16 combinations that managed to qualify for the jump-off and they managed to score a podium place after another flawless performance.
Earlier on Friday, the Colombian rider Santiago Diaz Ortega jumped into the spotlight with the 9-year-old stallion Ambassador Z, a son of our chestnut stallion Aganix du Seigneur Z and Pablo van Berkenbroeck, who was bred by Jos Lansink. During the 1.35m class against the clock they remained clear with a nice 2nd place as the result.
Finally, during the opening day on Thursday, there was also a 2nd place for the French rider Titouan Schumacher with the 13-year-old gelding Eliot Brimbelles Z (E.T. Cryozootech Z (CI) x Diamant de Semilly – B: Haras des Brimbelles). They secured this podium place during the 1.40m high speed class after a flawless performance.
